Open year-round, the Clive War Memorial Pool is a two-pool, heated indoor complex located in Farndon Park on the edge of the Clive River. The main pool is heated to 28 degrees and the learner’s pool to 31 degrees.
The complex features a 25-metre training pool and 15 metre learn to swim pool, superb learn to swim classes and dedicated lanes for water play and lap swimming. If you prefer to work out with others, our AquaFit classes cater for all fitness levels.
A base for the Trojan Swim Club, Waimarama Surf Club and Hawke’s Bay Canoe Polo, Clive Pool is also used for school learn to swim and water safety classes.
There’s always fun to be had at Clive War Memorial Pool with giant inflatables often entertaining the kids during the weekend in winter and school holidays.
Please note: The 15-metre learner pool is closed to the public during learn to swim hours. Children under the age of 8 must be actively supervised by a caregiver over 16 years i.e. within arms reach at all times.
Please note there is limited space available for lane swimming on Thursdays before 8am.
Three swimming lanes are available 6am - 8am and 3.15pm - 5.30pm weekdays and Saturday morning. Two swimming lanes are available between 3.15pm - 5.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 3.15 – 5pm on Friday for Lane swimming only.
The Learner Pool is closed to the public 9am – 11am and 3.30pm - 5.30pm Monday – Friday, and 9am – 12.15pm on Saturday during term time. It is also closed every Monday afternoon from 1pm.
Are you a regular open water user? Could you survive the first hour in the water?
We have the ideal course for you with instructors qualified with Coastguard New Zealand. This course will cover how to be safe if you get into trouble in the water; how to avoid danger; and how to successfully survive in the water.
Our course will be broken into two parts: 20 minutes dry land and 40 minutes in the pool. We provide a boat and life jackets but feel free to bring your own (life jackets of course!)
$25 per participant. Limited to 16 spaces per session. Please note: all children under 8 must have an adult in the water with them.
